Description
This cute yellow and black bee was a prominent display at an historic Tasmanian Home Garden Fete and is a brother to the striking blue-banded bee on display at the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens. Both brothers are 2.5 metres long and 2 metres high to the wing tips with eye-catching lace wings setting off their bright colours.
The yellow and black colourings were created by covering the frame with over 6 thousand yellow chrysanthemums (some sprayed black), while the blue-banded bee, along with numerous smaller offspring also at the Botanic Gardens, is planted out with various live plants including succulents to produce a realistic copy of nature’s worker.
Check out our other pictures and also the link to the Royal Botanic Gardens where several of our other frames have been planted out and featured.
